Update: COVID | creativedancemusic

At Creative Dance & Music Studio, the health and safety of our students, faculty and guests always comes first. Over the past 14 months we have followed all guidelines and recommendations by the CDC, State of Louisiana, Department of Health, Jefferson Parish, JEDCO and more. On June 8 our dancers and musicians returned to the studio.

All students have the option to take classes in person or on-line. CDMS has invested in technology so that our dancers can attend their classes LIVE, see their teachers and dance-mates, and participate in learning. Since March 23, our musicians have been attending on-live private music lessons from the comfort of their home. At this time in-studio lessons are possible if the musician chooses.

Please read the flyer below to learn about our safety procedures for parents and students. If you have any questions, we are here to help. Give us a call 504-390-2552 or send an email info@creativedanceandmusic.com.

UPDATE: October 27, 2021 - Masks are no longer required to enter the building. Wearing a mask is an individual decision for each parent and student.

UPDATE: August 1, 2021 - Masks are required to enter the building per the State of Louisiana (opensafely.la.gov)

UPDATE: July 1, 2020 - Per Jefferson Parish, masks must be worn to enter the building. Please check your emails to learn more about that policy in dance and music lessons.

UPDATE: September 11, 2020 - With Phase 3, we can allow a few more people in the building but must be aware of the 75% occupancy limit. Our lobbies actually hold less than our dance rooms, so we cannot safely have one parent for each dancer. We ask you to remain in the car, or outside, if you aren't essential to your dancer. Those we consider essential are parents of 2-3 year olds and first time students who need a week or two to be comfortable. Otherwise, only ONE parent is allowed. No siblings, guests or other family relatives. And those in the lobby MUST remain on a marker, in a mask or covering (unless unable). Remember, we are still limited. If you bring a sibling or guest, it takes a spot away from a parent of a student. If there is not enough space for all, we must ask you to wait outside. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it's what we must do to remain open.

UPDATE: November 29, 2020 - Return to Phase 2. Capacity is restricted to 50% occupancy. Our lobby is closed due to the stipulation of no indoor waiting spaces or lobbies. Dancers ages 2-5 may have 1 parent walk them to class, but they will need to wait outside during dance class. Students should arrive only 5 minutes before class. All must be in a mask and dancers must put on dance shoes before entering the dance room. We will continue to space dancers at 6', eliminate the use of shared props, and disinfect often. Please encourage your child to use hand sanitizer when entering the building and when leaving the dance room. Teachers will supervise dismissal.

UPDATE: April 21, 2021 - In accordance with the Governor’s announcement yesterday, we are able to make the following changes at Creative Dance & Music Studio. Please know that we must all continue to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID.

Continue to:

  • Stay home if ill or experiencing symptoms.

  • Stay home if exposed to someone that has tested positive in the past 7 days, with or without symptoms.

  • Monitor staff’s health, temperatures, and symptoms.

  • Disinfect surfaces and spaces frequently accessed by staff and customers.

  • Use hand sanitizer before and after class.

Updates:

  • Masks will not be required to enter CDMS however you are welcomed to wear a mask if you are more comfortable.

  • Guests should remain distanced by 6’ while in the lobby.

  • Overcrowding will not be allowed in the lobby waiting space.

  • Indoor waiting space will be open to parents however we ask that you take caution.

    • We expect a parent of a Debut Dancer to want to watch from time to time but we will monitor the lobby and distancing so that all guests are comfortable.

    • TV’s will be turned on for easy viewing.

    • As you know, lobby crowds can be a distraction to dancers and it’s something they aren’t quite used to. Parents must not stand close to the windows and must never tap or knock to gain their child’s attention. It interrupts the entire class. If it becomes a problem viewing windows will be covered.

  • We also ask that no parent remain in the lobby for more than 45 minutes in order to accommodate all parents as well as reduce the risk of spread.

  • Please do not congregate for general socializing. Keep the space open to parents who genuinely want to see their children dance.

As you can see, the majority of the guidance from the State Fire Marshal is regarding indoor waiting spaces. “Businesses and organizations must adhere to moderate mitigation standards and social distancing measures in waiting areas, lobbies, or other areas where people may congregate to prevent the spread of COVID-19”. “Indoor waiting areas may be open while following social distancing guidelines. Otherwise waiting outside of the facility should be encouraged.”

Don’t forget that this isn’t quite over. We don’t want to be a part of a set back. We have all worked hard to keep CDMS safe and healthy and we appreciate you being so very patient with our restrictions.
