Meet our Dance Faculty & Staff

Creative Dance & Music Studio brings you a caring, talented, professional staff that will inspire and motivate students of all ages.  Each dance teacher discovered dance at a very young age and are experienced teachers in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, acro and hip hop.  Our dance faculty continues their studies as members of Dance Masters of America, Twinkle Star DanceTMLeap N Learn Training, DanceLife Teacher Conference, International Dance Educators Association, master classes at conventions, and other professional organizations, such as More Than Just Great Dancing!

Lori Laumann Weil

Director, Instructor, Choreographer

     Lori has been the owner and director of Creative Dance & Music Studio since 2004. She has 38 years of teaching experience which began at her mother’s studio, Sissy Laumann Academy of Dance.  Over the years, Lori continued her dance studies with many master teachers at conventions and workshops.  She continues to do so with her staff, as well as attend business conferences.  Her competition teams have won numerous awards, but the most meaningful are her awards for choreography and studio spirit.  

     Lori earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1989 from the University of New Orleans.  She continues to expand the music programs offered and to develop the studio’s progressive dance syllabus to ensure a quality dance education for all students.  When Lori isn’t teaching dance or managing the studio, she loves to travel and spend time with her husband and 3 children.

Kim Sherlock Mumphrey

     Kim has been dancing since the age of 2 and joined our faculty in 2006.  Along with studying jazz, tap, ballet, and lyrical, Kim was also a national winner on her competition team.  She received her teacher’s certificate from Labourdette School of Dance in 1992.  Kim has been teaching dance for over 16 years, along with training NFL cheerleaders, judging dance teams, and choreographing routines.  Her most recent success was “testing to teach” and becoming a member of DMA (Dance Masters of America), Chapter #6 -LADM (Louisiana Association of Dance Masters) in 2005.

     Kim has a Bachelor of Science degree from LSU.  She has been teaching children for 16 years, currently in the Pre-K classroom.  Between educating children academically during the day and educating students artistically at night, Kim has brought the love of all of this to her own two kids, Aiden and Riley.

     Ashley has danced since the age of 2.  In her dance career, she has traveled to many dance competitions as well as attending numerous conventions to study under well known choreographers. She started Student Teaching at the age of 13 and earned her teaching certificate when she was a Senior in high school. 

    Ashley has 13 years of teaching experience and joined Creative Dance & Music Studio after hurricane Katrina as an Assistant Instructor. She has expanded her role at CDMS to teaching our preschool and early elementary dancers. We are excited to have Ashley sharing her many talents with us, and she loves to share her passion for dance with her students! When she isn't teaching, she loves playing mom to her two adorable daughters.

    Emily is excited to transition from student to teacher. She grew up at CDMS starting at just 18 months old. Over the years she has grown into a beautiful dancer and talented pianist. As a member of the competition team for seven years, she has performed hundreds of times. Her other past times included competitive gymnastics and athletics throughout middle and high school, such as volleyball, soccer, softball and even basketball. Her competitive drive balances her patient manners, making her an inspiring and caring instructor.

     Emily will be teaching our Totally Tumble classes using her background in gymnastics, as well as all ages and level of dance classes. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of New Orleans and is studying for her certification in Dance Masters of America.

Hilary Landry

Instructor, Choreographer

     Hilary has been dancing with Creative Dance & Music Studio since she was two years old, starting in 1993. She has been a member of the competition team from the age of eight to eighteen at the studio and has been to numerous dance conventions and competitions. She has studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acro, baton, hip hop, and has participated in opening and closing productions. Hilary was a member of the Shaw Eaglettes Dance Team for four years, and in that time she became an American All Star in 2007 and a UDA All Star in 2008. She received her Teacher's Certificate in 2009 and has continued to be a part of the Creative Dance & Music Studio faculty. In 2013, Hilary graduated from Loyola University with a Minor in Dance & continued to study ballet under Ms. Laura Zambrano, the director of the Loyola Ballet, to earn a teaching certification in the Vaganova Method of ballet. Hilary is also a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor.

Annissa "Bunny" Moses

Instructor, Choreographer

     Annissa "Bunny" Moses started her dance career at Sissy Laumann Academy of Dance at the age of 3 and continued until she graduated from Creative Dance and Music Studio in 2013. Bunny was a member of the mini, junior, and senior competition teams at CDMS and attended several competitions and conventions. Bunny attended De La Salle High School where she joined the dance team her 8th grade year, became co-captain her 10th grade year, and was captain both her 11th and 12th grade year. Along with high school graduation, Bunny passed our certification test for tap, jazz, and ballet, as well as becoming a staff member of American All-Star.   

     Bunny received her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge in 2018, and her Masters in Social Work from Tulane University in 2019. She has been an energetic teacher and uses her knowledge and skills to create a loving and helpful environment for all those she teaches.

Heather Stevenson

     Lindsey has been studying all forms of dance since she was 2 years old both at our studio and from master teachers nationally. She was part of the Competition Team for many years and was the captain of her high school dance team. Her senior year in high school, she passed her certification tests in tap, ballet, and jazz and has been teaching ever since. Lindsey was certified in Twinkle Star™ Dance and Leap N Learn dance program and has completed the certification tests from Dance Maters of America in tap, ballet, and jazz.  She continues her dance education by attending conventions and teacher workshops. Since her first dance class, she knew she wanted to be a teacher.

     In 2011, Lindsey graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelors of Science in Finance.  During a short period of time off from teaching, her and her husband welcomed their son, Kaleb, and daughter, Payton, into their family.  Lindsey is excited to be back in the classroom teaching and excited to share her love of dance with her students. 

     Heather started dancing at the age of 4 and has been involved in dance in some way ever since. She attended Sissy Laumann Academy of Dance (SLAD) where she danced on the competition team. Upon graduating from High School, she studied Theater and Dance at Northwestern State University where she earned her B.A.

     After graduating from Northwestern in 2004, she moved to Inner Grove Heights, MN where she taught dance at Short Dance Studio and worked at Stages Theater company. Moving back to Louisiana in 2010, she began teaching Theater in the Jefferson Parish school system. Her favorite part about teaching is sharing her passion for performing with her students and helping them gain confidence on stage and off.
